What do you say to/about women who pour into your child? Amazing women who want the best for your child and work with her and for her to provide the best possible outcome?
Frankly, I don’t have the words. These women are dedicated to serving the Deaf/Hard of hearing kids in our county. For us specifically, they have worked tirelessly to help Kobi succeed in her school career. They are interpreters for the D/HH plus one teacher for the Deaf.
Kobi had many years (6) in foster care. She had no one advocating for her, and she fell through the cracks of the system. When we adopted her at age 11, she basically had no language. That’s a long time to live in this world without being able to communicate.
We worked hard to get her the help she needed. Many hours of tutoring, praying, and just plain hard work on her part and she made tremendous progress. However, there are things that our brains learn before that age of five, that if missed is nearly impossible to retrieve. The information just never made it there to begin with, and the files where the info needs to be are closed off. That said, Kobi is an amazing young woman and worked hard from day one.
But I digress!
This group of women and several others who are not pictured have been angels on earth for Kobi and us. Without these beautiful, caring, dedicated ladies – Kobi would never have made it this far.
Our family appreciates the hours of hard work, the loooong days of signing, and mostly their prayers. They have been gifted with hands that speak! And speak they do!
The interpreters spend countless hours signing for Kobi and the other students. I know their hands must get so tired. My own experience is that it is tiring, physically, mentally, and emotionally. They have been there in the trenches, making sure Kobi understood everything being said and helping her navigate socially as well. They have prayed her through many days of hard, hard work. We are thankful God chose to place each of you in just the right place and time to make such an impact on Kobi’s life.

Her teacher, Diana, is the most dedicated teacher I have ever encountered. I am blessed to call her friend, and all of her students are blessed to have her in their lives. She advocates for them, she spends her own time, money, and resources to serve these kids. She goes beyond what anyone would expect of a teacher. Her heart is for Jesus, and she serves Him, by serving these kids who need her so much. Thank you isn’t enough. What a blessing she has been to us. How amazing our God is, that He would place her in our lives. I believe with my whole heart that she knows we couldn’t have done this without her.
God knew too!

I want to thank Karen (not pictured) for her years of dedication in interpreting and teaching Kobi at church and Sunday school. Those were her first years of learning about Jesus, and it paid off. She loves Jesus, and she loves to serve others in church – she follows your example. Thank you.

Lastly, I want to say thank you to an extraordinary lady for teaching and mentoring all of us and being such a special friend to me. Terri Jackson, you were an inspiration, and your legacy continues. You are loved and missed more than mere words can convey. We had so many laughs and a few tears together too. I thank my God at every remembrance of you!
