Why Turn From Me?

faith· family· grief

Why do you turn from me, pretending not to see?

Is it you? Or is it me?

Why do you turn from me, pretending not to see?

Is it my grief you don’t want to see?

Why do you turn from me, pretending not to see?

What is it? Is it shame for not doing something you think you should have done?

Don’t you know it matters not to me?

Why do you turn from me, pretending not to see?

You don’t know what to say? Say hello, maybe say you’re sorry, that you care about me.

Why do you turn from me, pretending not to see?

Do you think I didn’t see you there, turning, turning away from me?

Why do you turn from me, pretending not to see?

Do you feel it’s been too long and you would feel awkward now?

Do you not know that it seems like yesterday to me?

If again we should cross paths, come to me with open arms, share my grief and just be with me.

I know your heart and the confusion there…what to say, how to be?

If again we should cross paths, I won’t wait, I won’t let you turn away, I’ll just pull you to me.

I know you love me and care for me and you’re at a loss as to how to help me.

Don’t you know? I care for you, need you, and someday you may need me.
