When digging through the past, odd things can be found. Prophetic things can be unearthed as well, making the heart pound with the reality that there has always been a plan for your life.
We were recently going through some items and came across a few things that made us cry – both from sorrow and joy. Tears can be light and happy or heavy with heartache. Sometimes, both at the same time. That’s called bittersweet.
There’s a lot of bittersweet in our lives at this point. If I am totally honest with you, everything is bittersweet. Every. Little. Thing.
But I digress…
In an effort to purge some crazy from our basement, I was pulling out a trophy that was awarded (because they didn’t give trophies for showing up back in the old days) to hubby years ago. I found one that had a fish on it – some sort of fishing trophy – this is curious to me, as hubby has zero interest in fishing! The next one I pulled out was a trophy with a “trophy” looking thingie as its design. The nameplate and what it was for had slipped off. It did say 4-H on it. I held it up and shouted over to hubby, and we giggled at the find. In a few minutes though my wandering fingers found the nameplate. Of course, it had his name on it, but it also stated what it was for – public speaking!
I asked him if he knew what it was for, and he said, “Sure, public speaking.” Like it was just no thang!
He draws people in with his passion, and he makes them want to listen all day.
It’s a gift!
It’s a gift that he has apparently always had. Waaaaaay back in 4-H! I wish I could have heard the speech that won him that trophy! Whatever it was, I know his speaking is even better today, given his desire to share Christ.
Unfortunately, I’m not the biggest Instagram-er, so I threw it out before taking a picture of it. Before you judge, it’s really old and pretty useless at this point. It needed to be purged, so out it went.
This is an example of what it looked like though.
It wasn’t until later that I thought about how significant it was in telling a story about hubby and the fact that God has a plan for us from the beginning. Although it took a while to get to this point, this is where the path was leading all along.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11
