Separation from a loved one can be life-altering. S
Memories are all that’s left, and all you want to do is to bridge the gap with a touch. A word. A look.
It’s painful to breathe when part of your world is missing. When all you want to do is to be together again. When the ground beneath your feet has a crevice that broadens with every thump of your heart.
The burden of loss creates a tremendous pressure in your chest. But it’s okay because you will carry this weight for all the moments you had to together. All the yesterdays. All the beginnings. The smiles and laughs and every single breath they ever drew. The weight is worth it.
Remembering can hurt. But the thought of not remembering is so devastating that it can shatter you to the point of gasping for the very air you breathe. You need to gather every minute, every day, every year like a mama bird building her nest. Collect it all. Weave each one into the next. Leave enough room for air — for light. But make it secure. So very secure. It has to hold for your life-time and be sturdy enough to pass through the generations. So they won’t forget.
Please don’t let them forget.
The funny, the sad, the best, and the worst. Remember it all. It all matters when memories are all we have left.
Laugh, smile, weep, pray, and hold on. Hold on to each other so you can hold dear the love that will live forever. The love
Love lives on — even when life ends. Death, separation, loss — it doesn’t mean love vanishes as if it never was. No, love is so inherent, so essential to our relationships that it will endure. Love cannot be extinguished. It will remain.
Love will always remain.
