Let light shine out of darkness
2 Corinthians 4:6
It’s been said that it’s through the broken places that the light comes in. I have found this to be truer than true.
There is such brokenness that comes with the loss of a child – no matter the child’s age. It breaks you wide open and leaves you weary and staggering around looking for something good, something to take away the darkness that crept in when your child left this world.
The sorrow is deep within the marrow, and it seems like it will drain you of your life blood. And sometimes you wish it would.
Then, there comes a twinkle of light slipping right through those fissures in your heart. Even through the tears, you feel the weight of it – Hope. Hope seeps through bringing the Light that can begin the healing. The healing you longed for but didn’t expect.
The Light that comes from the One who can bring peace and even joy back into your life.
The heartache is there. It doesn’t leave. But, the Light – the glorious Light. He brings hope that good can come from the brokenness. He died that you might have everlasting life. He won’t let you go, and He will never leave you.
He will hide you beneath His wings. There is safety there.
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings, you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Psalm 91:4
The light, His light… it breaks through the deep rifts in your heart and soul. It saturates the pain with the beauty that is life. It fills the silence that has overcome you, and it quiets the raging cacophony you can’t shut out. It radiates from within and expels itself right into the hope you thought you lost.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4
Even in the darkest moments, He is there. His light will overcome the darkness.
… In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
