My hubby and I recently had lunch with one of Stuart’s friends. We didn’t know him well, but he has been a tremendous blessing to us. We were anxious to get to know him better and to hear some of his “Stuart Stories!”
Our time was truly incredible. We laughed. We cried. We laughed some more. We had the pleasure of getting to know this amazing man, who Stuart had talked about so much. Stuart loved him, so we knew we would too. We were right.
This young man has handwritten letters and sent them to us on the anniversary of Stuart’s homegoing. That’s twice so far. (And he sent a precious gift this year as well). He poured out his heart and became vulnerable for our sakes and the memory of Stuart!
Stuart would love him all the more for this!
“For I wrote you out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you” (2 Corinthians 2:4).
It was very cathartic, and we hope to meet with him again. We are also hoping to connect with more of Stuart’s friends in the near future.
Our bravery wins a thousand battles we can’t see because our bravery strengthens a thousand others to win their battles too. Ann Voscamp
*I have left out the name of Stuart’s friend because I didn’t ask permission to include it.
