Far Side Banks of Jordan

The Far Side Banks of Jordan was a song my Granny wanted to be played at her funeral. In the heartbreak, sadness and need to get things done – it was left off the list. I didn’t even know the song at that time. I have since come to love it.

There is a version by Johnny and June Cash and also one by Alison Krauss. Both are great.

It’s on one of my most frequently played playlists. It makes me happy. It makes me sorrowful.

Most things do.

When you know that you know that you know, that you belong to Jesus, death has no hold on you. When so many others you love are already in Glory, there is a readiness that fills your heart. I can imagine it… And I like it.

What a glorious time we will have. Worshipping our savior and spending eternity with our loves.

No more heartache. No more tears. No more sadness. No more pain.

The veil will be forever removed! We will see Jesus face to face.

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.

                                                     1 Corinthians 13:12

I don’t know about you, but that puts a little dance in my step!

 Far Side Banks of Jordan

I believe my steps are growing wearier each day

Still I’ve got a journey on my mind
Lures of this old world have ceased to make me want to stay
And my one regret is leaving you behind

If it proves to be his will that I am first to go
And somehow I have a feeling it will be
When it comes your times to travel likewise don’t feel lost
For I will be the first one that you’ll see

And I’ll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan
I’ll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand
And when I see you coming, I will rise up with the shout
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand

Through this life we’ve labored hard to earn our meager fare
It’s brought us trembling hands and failing eyes
I’ll just rest here on the shore and turn my eyes away
Until you come, then we’ll see paradise

And I’ll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan
I’ll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand
And when I see you coming, I will rise up with the shout
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand

And I’ll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan
I’ll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand
And when I see you coming, I will rise up with the shout
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand

Tearing @ 11:36 – heart broken about a few things in this life…you can sing it with her when you see her. She will understand. <3
